Robyn Harvey

Robyn has been a coastal scull rower for 3 years, finding and falling in love with the sport after the Covid Pandemic Lockdowns.

She first heard about Ocean Rowing when a family friend had crossed the Atlantic, several years after, and at the more suitable age of 28, she rediscovered this idea and found out about the Pacific Crossing going from California to Hawaii on the Atlantic Campaigns website. With her well instilled love of adventure and new found love of rowing, the idea of an Ocean crossing excited her so she looked into it more. The further she looked, the more she wanted to do it. So having filled in the paperwork, before telling her mum (who is definitely putting a brave front on the support of this idea!) she's now fully focussed.

Robyn is looking forward to getting out on our boat, Lady Jayne, and getting to know her team, life, and routines on board an R45 ocean rowing boat. She's also looking forward to being part of the driving power to get us to Hawaii and the adventure and learning involved in the whole campaign and crossing process.

This will be her first Ocean Row and she can’t wait for the experience!

Kevin Watkins

Kevin completed the Atlantic Row in 2023 and knew as soon as he got to land that he wanted to go again. He is grateful to Robyn and the Team for the invite to join the mighty Team Be More Pacific. The chosen Charity is close to his heart and is small enough that the money raised will make an immediate difference.

The challenge of the Pacific is immense and although 100 miles shorter to Hawaii than the Atlantic, breaking out of continental USA is hard and the conditions challenging in a different way. He is looking forward to being on the journey of the Campaign again and bringing some of the lessons learnt into such a great Team.

Neil Lomas

Neil is a true water baby having canoed for many years and been a successful Great Britain dragon boat racing paddler. He first saw ocean rowing on TV, a program presented by Freddie Flintoff about celebrities rowing the length of the British Isles and thinking 'I fancy that'

Six months on and he had rowed 2 legs of 6 around Great Britain taking him from South Cornwall around Lands End and over to Northern Island and also from Scarborough to Essex. All of that proved to be simply a springboard to row across The Atlantic Ocean from Tenerife to Antigua in the winter of 2022/2023.

A crossing of the North Sea in Summer of 2024 is a stepping stone to rowing in The World's Toughest Row Pacific in 2025…let’s have it!!

Mirjam Ferkenius

Sports have always formed an essential part of Mirjam’s life; she played waterpolo and hockey in her childhood, before changing to fitness and hiking. Three years ago she started fine rowing, which has since become one of her favourite activities. Having watched ocean rowing, a seed was planted and curiosity and preparation eventually led to being offered the opportunity to become the fourth crew member of Team Be More Pacific. With her adventurous mindset and drive to find challenges in which she can push herself and contribute to the team, rowing the Pacific is right up her street.

She is looking forward to the journey that is lying ahead and hopes that the team effort of rowing 2,800 miles across the beautiful, but at times brutal Pacific Ocean, will ultimately result in fundraising a substantial amount for the charity First Steps ED.
